Hubei Doctor Reveals How Chinese Hospitals Report Low Coronavirus Death Rates
A Doctor’s Account at Ground Zero
Dr. Zheng (alias) works in the intensive care unit (ICU) of a hospital in Hubei Province. In an interview with a Minghui correspondent he explained how his hospital reported zero coronavirus cases while still treating coronavirus patients.
Dr. Zheng said there were a dozen critically ill patients in his ICU potentially infected with COVID-19, and two of them were on ventilators. To achieve the “high recovery rate” required by CCP officials, the hospital discharged five of the patients after they tested negative for COVID-19, including those on ventilators. The patients were then re-admitted on the same day under different illnesses, such as stroke, brain hemorrhage, and Alzheimer’s.
According to Dr. Zheng, between January 24 and February 13, 2020, he was called in to treat severe COVID-19 symptoms by resuscitating patients with respiratory failure, and had to set up ventilators six times. Three patients suspected to have COVID-19 were never tested and soon died, but were not listed in any cases.
While the hospital reported nearly 400 confirmed COVID-19 cases, the number of suspected cases remains unknown since they were never counted.
About two dozen confirmed patients were released after testing negative twice for the virus, but later became infected again. However, upon being re-admitted, the hospital did not count the reinfections as new cases. Other patients who likely died from COVID-19 were not included in the official count with the excuse that they were not tested for the virus.
In an attempt to get hospitals back to normal operation, CCP officials instructed all hospitals in Dr. Zheng’s city on March 19 to declare that they were “absolutely free of COVID-19 patients and clean.” Five of Dr. Zheng’s patients with COVID-19 who had been re-admitted under different illnesses were still in the ICU, and two other officially confirmed COVID-19 patients were present that day. One died days later and another remained in critical condition at the time of the interview.
Official Tallies Only the Tip of the Iceberg
Hospitals in China are divided into three tiers based on their quality, function and mission.
Dr. Zheng works in a Tier-2 hospital which was designated as a COVID-19 hospital for patients during the epidemic. The city of Wuhan also set up some makeshift hospitals when hospitals of all three tiers became overcrowded with COVID-19 patients.
Given the CCP’s track record of covering up internal problems for the sake of “social stability,” as in the 2003 SARS epidemic, it’s possible that other hospitals in Wuhan and cities across China received the same order. As a result, the actual number of infected cases and deaths is likely much higher than the officially-reported count.
A Fox News article published on April 1st quoted three U.S. intelligence officials as saying that “China’s public record of COVID-19 infections was deliberately deceptive and incomplete” and that the CCP’s lies have put the world in jeopardy.
