ISRAEL STOPS SENDING PATIENTS TO CHINA FOR TRANSPLANTS
Tel Aviv — In response to evidence that Chinese hospitals have been killing Falun Gong practitioners for on-demand organ transplants (www.killed4organs.net), Israeli health providers announced their decision to stop funding Israelis to go to China for organ transplants. Some 300 Israelis had previously traveled to China each year for organ transplants.

“…as a result of Matas’s and Kilgour’s report (http://investigation.go.saveinter.net/) and other conclusive information, Israel had halted all organ transplants performed in China over a month ago,” according to a June 3 Jerusalem Post report.

Meanwhile, the Chinese embassy in Tel Aviv pressured the Israeli Foreign Ministry to bar Falun Gong spokesperson Roy Bar Ilan from speaking on a panel about organ harvesting in China at Bellinson Hospital. Replacing him on the panel opposite Canadian lawyer David Matas was the embassy’s first secretary. The incident, however, created a media stir in Israel that ended up bringing more attention to China’s organ harvesting atrocities.

Following the panel, Matas submitted a formal request to the Israeli Foreign Ministry for the expulsion of the Chinese diplomat over his comments during the panel. Matas, known as a Nazi hunter, said the diplomat’s attacks on Falun Gong amounted to incitement of genocide.

PROMINENT RABBI PROHIBITS JEWS FROM GETTING TRANSPLANTS IN CHINA
New Tang Dynasty Television (NTDTV) reports that Rabbi Yosef Shalom Elyashiv, one of Judaism’s most respected experts on Jewish law, adamantly warned Jews not to get organ transplants in China. His halachich opinion came in response to a question about the killing of Falun Gong practitioners in China for their hearts, kidneys, lungs, and other organs.

“It is a desecration of God’s name to use organs taken from political prisoners,” was Elyashiv’s answer. “Even in life-threatening cases it is forbidden to receive treatment…They must not travel to China to get an organ transplant.”

The report also quotes Shaarei Tzedek Hospital Director Jonathan Halevy saying, “It is unacceptable that organs are taken in such a criminal fashion.”

JEWISH AUTHOR CALLS FOR OLYMPIC BOYCOTT
Ottawa — Rabbi Dr. Reuven Bulka, Chairman of the Committee to Investigate the Persecution of Falun Gong–Canada, is among those calling for a boycott of the 2008 Beijing Olympics if the persecution of Falun Gong does not immediately end. Speaking at a press conference in Canadian Parliament, Bulka, author of 34 books, said, “If we don’t stand up for this, and these atrocities continue to happen, we can’t justify ourselves, and we can’t explain to our kids how we were silent when this thing happened…speak up, open your mouth, do what you can.”

WASHINGTON POST: CHINA’S GAMES
May 29, 2007 — “…getting the 2008 Games seems to have emboldened China’s communist rulers. Amnesty International recently released a report indicating that despite a few minor reforms such as the temporary loosening of control over foreign media, human rights violations in China persist and in some areas have worsened… China is cracking down on dissidents because of, not in spite of, the Olympics. ‘[S]trik[ing] hard at hostile forces,’ as China’s minister of public security told a state-run publication in March, is meant to ‘create a harmonious society and a good social environment for successfully holding . . . the Beijing Olympic Games.’”

57-YEAR-OLD WOMAN DIES AFTER BEING PARALYZED FROM TORTURE
57-year-old Ms. Wei Hua from Chongqing City has died after torture in a mental hospital left her paralyzed. Chinese authorities had detained Wei in the Qiulongpo District Mental Hospital claiming she suffered from “cultural mental disease” – a euphemism for those holding ideas that are not in line with the Chinese Communist Party.
